Stefan Sehler
Born in 1958, he lives and works in Berlin.
Stefan Sehler’s art is based on illusion: creating photographic forms and compositions in paint. The starting point for his works is always figurative and centered on nature. The painter plays with the unpredictable effects of color projection onto the surface of Plexiglas sheets. A strong contrast emerges between the overall composition and the details, between near and far, blurring the outlines of the represented forms. Through a reversal of perspective, abstraction reveals itself as the key to representing the natural world and its figuration.
