Geneviève Claisse

(1935 – 2018)

Her work is a rigorous exploration of abstraction that began in 1958. Since mid-1960’s, triangle and circle became, treated separately, its formal vocabulary introducing her into kinetic research applied to surfaces. Then, she has simplified her painting, both in terms of form and choice of colors, in parallel with the growth of Optical Art and Kinetic Art.
